In this beautifully crazy world of ours we are all unique. Not a single person on this earth is the same and thats a glorious thing. Everyday we walk past someone new; we see someone we’ve never seen before with their own past and puzzle of memories that makes them who they are. That alone makes every person on this planet special. You are more important than you realize because you’re the only YOU. So act like it. Flaunt it. Just own it.
I remember I was at this party a while back and it’s a story I will never forget. I’m standing around, fade dripping from my mother’s hair products. Looking like a broke ass Rick James.
And, next thing you know I see this girl. We’ll call her Amy. Now Amy was gorgeous to me, and I thought you know what:
It’s cuffing season.
I stood there giving her this ridiculous look and I shot my shot from the end of a couch across the room; as if she was supposed to sense my pheromones like a freaking bear in heat. And oh boy did I miss. She didn’t even turn around. Next thing you know I sense someone lock onto me like I was prey. I was teriffied. Now this girl, we’ll call her Stacy, was a bit….heavy set. Now, I played linebacker in highschool so I wasn’t inexperienced with getting past large obstacles.
Plus I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for big women anyway. But Stacy had a temper and was known to knock girls out with only her forearm, so…. yeah I was terrified. Now we were on completely different sides of the room and the party was PACKED and I kid you not, she parted that sea of people better than Moses ever could. I mean basically ran through 60 kids and never broke eye contact! Next thing you know she’s standing in front of me sweating, and this is how our conversation goes:
YOU CUTE OR WHATEVER!
OK WELL, I DONT HAVE A LOT OF TIME FOR NO RA RA SHIT SO IMMA KEEP IT SHORT MY NAME STACY I’M A BIG BEAUTIFUL BITCH
(proceeds to spin in a circle)
AND I WILL WEAR YOU OUT SO DONT COME AT ME WIT THAT LITTLE BOY MESS. NOW YOU CAN EITHER GOT ON THIS SWEET RIDE OR GET LEFT BOO LET ME KNOW!
The girl walked smooth off. Just vanished into a crowd of drunk college kids like a ghost. I was shook. Her energy alone was overwhelming and yet intoxicating at the same time. I’m not going to lie I wanted to talk to her even more, it was the craziest feeling but I couldn’t find her. I actually was disappointed she didn’t give me her number! My point here is:
Cherish yourself for you in the best way you can and I promise your personality will shine through your insecurities. Know your value and others will too. We tend to focus so much on what’s wrong with us that it buries what makes us incredible individuals. Have confidence in your strength’s and watch how your relationships change for the better. People will gravitate to you and respect the positivity you surround yourself with.
I know it may seem like you aren’t important sometimes; as if you can never stand out from the crowd, but I promise you there are a thousand things in you that make you spectacular. It’s only a matter of time before you find someone who’ll love you for them. So go out there, find your confidence.
And show the world.
